It’s 21-22 Spring Season Pass Sale Time!

It’s 21-22 Spring Season Pass Sale Time!

I know it seems impossible to think about, but your best ski deals for the next 2021-2022 season are right NOW! Aggressive? Yes. But find your Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Western New York or Maryland ski season pass deals are all right here and you’ll be happy you did.

My eye is on the Indy Pass (mega pass for single resorts), Timberline ($359!), Wisp (Closest) and Highland Pass (3 resorts and SO MANY perks). Plus, I always regret not getting Wisp’s Mission: Four’dable pack deal… How do I choose?! Someone tell Tucker County to make a Ski the Valley pass and I’ll be DONE!

Christina Skis Mid-Atlantic Mountains

To me, my favorite Mid-Atlantic mountain resorts are in the tri-state area, marked by Snowshoe in the south and Holiday Valley in the north. To get a full range, Whitetail is probably as far as I would drive myself for a day trip, even though I worked at sister resort Liberty Mountain. But with Roundtop, those three are really on the Harrisburg and DC side of PA. Plus, they’re all on the Epic Pass and I’m trying to get you a good deal.

As for the small guys, Tussey, Mystic Mountain and Boyce Park all in Pennsylvania – those are your best mountains to learn on, and I highly recommend them. However, this post is for season passers, the snow people who are already in love and can’t get enough.

Table Key

  • Pass X Payoff = how many times you have to ski or ride at the mountain to pay off your season pass, per weekend rates.
*multi-packs are a good option if you don’t think you’ll go that much.
  • Regular Pass Rates Listed = any day, no blackouts, no discounts. Most mountains offer separate Jr/Sr or Military rates.
  • Buddy Tickets = usually mean 25-50% off lift tickets for a friend or family member, the same day you are there.
  • Swap Tickets = 1 free lift ticket and ticket discounts at… [See Full Details]
    • Resort Swap (7 Springs, Hidden Valley, Laurel Mountain, Wisp & Wintergreen)
    • Mountains of Distinction (Massachusetts: Jiminy Peak, Wachusett, New Hampshire: Cranmore, New York: Bristol Mountain, Holiday Valley, Ski Windham, Vermont: Bromley)
    • 3 days at Cooper Mountain in CO

BONUS CONTENT! THE INDY PASS

#indyrevolution is is in everyone’s mouths right now, and for good reason. The Indy Pass is really good deal for 2 free lift tickets at 63 resorts all over the US, and they keep adding more. If the locations weren’t juuuust far away enough this would have already been in my pocket. Get Wisp on there and it’s mine!

This pass is all about the “core” skier and rider who doesn’t want lift lines and enjoys an authentic mountain vibe. Think hipster, that doesn’t know about White Grass yet. But I hate putting people in boxes. Just get the pass – it doesn’t matter if you’re the goth kid from highschool or Candide Thovex – you’re still going to enjoy it.

Mountains on the pass include Blue Knob (PA), Canaan Valley (WV), Winterplace (WV), Shawnee (PA), Massanutten (VA) and Bryce (VA). But hold up… JAY PEAK?! Come on!

Pass PriceHow it Works
TBD on 21-22, for an idea:

Indy Pass – $259 (with blackouts)
Spring Pass – $149 (March 1)

25% off daily rate after that.
No pass, just present photo ID.
Boom.

Did I miss one of your faves that you can get to with an easy drive? Do I need to add Ohio to my roundup of states?!?! Let me know in the comments. See you out there! ❄

Lift Rate Roundup 2018: Tri-State / Mid-Atlantic

Oh man! A very late roundup of lift ticket and late season pass pricing is finally on the blog for the 2018-2019 season. Resorts in western PA and more have opened up this weekend, if they haven’t been open already! Check out the alpine skiing and snowboarding areas just a drive from anywhere in Western Pennsylvania and listed in PA, WV, MD and NY. The perfect places for a day or weekend trip–just be sure to check the web first for who’s officially open, because, well, that’s going to be changing on the daily. It’s only November!

Rate Chart

Notes about this chart depicting lift ticket rates for the 2018-2019 season: the season pass rates depicted here are non-sale, late purchase pricing. Many of these resorts have spring or fall pre-season pass sales where the majority of them are sold (and when you should buy if you’re seriously considering owning a pass). Unfortunately I missed gathering info on that pricing, so you see the rack rate. All season pass rates are depicted as a single person, full access/classic season pass as purchased today. A few of these resorts are listed under Highland or Peak Pass, which means the resorts are part of a group and the passes have multi-mountain benefits. All lift tickets are set as a single, extended or 8-hour rate, whichever is the “most offered” at each resort.

There’s A New Guy In Town

There’s A New Guy In Town

It’s baaaaaack.

Well, I don’t really remember it, but I know I’ve been there as a kid. Anyways, another place to ski this winter!

Introducing our new Trail Map!

Bob Nutting, owner of Seven Springs and Hidden Valley (along with the Pirates), leased the vintage Laurel Mountain back in 2008, part of the PA DCNR’s Laurel Mountain State Park near Latrobe. Finally, in early 2015, plans went out to bid and people got excited. Construction began and it looks like a brand new high speed quad is going to start turning and the mountain will be open to skiers and riders after a 10+ year hiatus once more this season.

LET’S BREAK IT DOWN:

Slopes – Wildcat is one of 13 open slopes and trails, clocking in as the mountain’s steepest slope. It is also the steepest ski slope in the state of Pennsylvania, at 60% grade.

Ski Capital of Pennsylvania.

Price – And, if you’re not looking to break the bank at Springs, save $20 on Lift Tickets and probably the crowds (until people realize it’s there – maybe they already do) with a $53 weekend pass, $38 during the week. Season passes for Laurel Mountain are available

It will also be part of the Resort Swap with Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Wisp Resort, Snowshoe Mountain Resort and Blue Knob Resort. GAH!

Fun Fall Fact – apparently there is a 125-mile / 4-hour loop through Laurel Hill, Laurel Mountain, Laurel Ridge, Laurel Summit  and Linn Run state parks. WHAT?! I’m going.

Learn More – Marketing’s going vintage a la 2005 on skilaurelmountain.com. Just kidding, here’s the Seven Springs run site: laurelmountainski.com – that’s better! If you can’t wait, check out the State Park.

Here’s to more ski days this year!

Throwback to the Laurel House in 1965. Only a few more months until the 2016-2017 Season!
